Connect With Your Own Facebook / WhatsApp Developer App

Most customers connect through SalesChat AI's own Facebook App — an admin adds your account as a Tester and you're ready to go in minutes, with nothing to build yourself.

This guide is for the alternative, advanced path: you create your own, completely independent Meta Developer App and connect it to SalesChat AI. Choose this if you want full control of your own app, don't want to wait to be added as a Tester, or plan to scale beyond what a shared app easily supports.

This is a technical process. If you're not comfortable with developer tools, ask SalesChat AI support to walk you through it, or use the standard Tester-based connection instead.

Part A — Facebook Page (Messenger)

1. Create your own Facebook App

  1. Go to developers.facebook.com and click Create App.
  2. Choose Business as the app type.
  3. Give it any name and finish creating it.

2. Add the Messenger product

  1. On your new app's dashboard, click Add Product and set up Messenger.
  2. Go to Messenger → Settings.

3. Set up the webhook

  1. Under Webhooks, click Add Callback URL.
  2. Callback URL: https://scai.nextcorebd.com/webhook/messenger/
  3. Verify Token: open Business Profiles → Already have official Meta credentials? → Using your own Facebook Developer App? in your SalesChat AI dashboard — the callback URL and verify token are shown right there, ready to copy.
  4. After it verifies, subscribe to these fields:
  5. messages
  6. messaging_postbacks
  7. message_echoes
  8. feed (only needed if you also want comment auto-reply)

4. Connect your Page and generate a token

  1. In the same Messenger Settings page, add your Page under Generate access tokens.
  2. Go to Graph API Explorer, select your own app (not SalesChat AI), select your Page, and check these permissions:
  3. pages_messaging (required)
  4. pages_manage_metadata (only if you want comment auto-reply)
  5. pages_show_list (needed for your Page to appear in the token generator)
  6. Click Generate Access Token and copy it.

5. Get your App ID and App Secret

  1. Go to App settings → Basic on your app's dashboard.
  2. Copy the App ID.
  3. Click Show next to App Secret and copy it too.

Part B — WhatsApp Business

1–2. Create your app and add the WhatsApp product

Same as Part A steps 1–2, but add the WhatsApp product instead of Messenger.

3. Set up the webhook

  1. Under WhatsApp → Configuration → Webhook, click Edit.
  2. Callback URL: https://scai.nextcorebd.com/webhook/whatsapp/
  3. Verify Token: open Business Profiles → Already have official Meta credentials? → Using your own Facebook Developer App? in your SalesChat AI dashboard — the callback URL and verify token are shown right there, ready to copy.
  4. Subscribe to the messages field.

4. Connect your number and generate a token

  1. Under WhatsApp → API Setup, find your Phone Number ID and WhatsApp Business Account (WABA) ID.
  2. Go to Business Settings → System Users, create or pick a System User, and click Generate Token with these permissions:
  3. whatsapp_business_messaging (required)
  4. whatsapp_business_management (required)
  5. Copy the generated token.

5. Get your App ID and App Secret

Same as Part A step 5.

Part C — Connect to SalesChat AI

  1. Go to Business Profiles in your SalesChat AI dashboard.
  2. Click Already have official Meta credentials?
  3. Fill in the Display name, Channel, Page ID / Phone Number ID, and the access token you generated.
  4. Open Using your own Facebook Developer App? (optional, advanced) and fill in:
  5. Your Facebook App ID
  6. Your Facebook App Secret
  7. Click Save connection.

That's it — SalesChat AI will verify incoming messages against your own app's secret from now on, completely independent of SalesChat AI's own app.
